DC jack socket repair - 125 pounds.

We can repair your laptop power socket for 125 pounds including return postage.

The most common hardware problem we see in laptops is a broken DC jack socket. Either someone tripped over the cable, the pin inside broke, the socket came loose from the motherboard/disintegrated due to repeated stress. Its easily fixed, although it does take a few hours and you need to find the right replacement socket.

Motherboard replacement? Just say 'no'!

Assuming the laptop is out of warranty, if you ask your manufacturer to repair it you will be charged 2-3 hundred pounds because they claim the only option is to 'fit a new motherboard'. If you check the fine print it is usually a 'reconditioned' motherboard. What this means is they take out your motherboard, put a new power socket on, sell it to someone else and sell you the one from the previous customer! This way they get to sell you a motherboard as well! The process also takes a few weeks, for some odd reason.

How we do it instead

We strip down your laptop as soon as we get it, find the loose or broken socket, replace it or fix it to the motherboard (properly this time) test it for a few hours to make sure it is running properly, send you an invoice by email and ask if there is anything else you want us to look at, then we call DHL to pick up your laptop. Unless your power socket is a very rare one indeed you should have your laptop back in your possession within a week. If you are in the London M25 area we can usually do a free pickup and delivery.
